What I have learned from these videos is that given any new fad mixed with familiar material from previous experiences in people's lives can make a meme. If enough people watch the rest will catch on familiar or not. My new hair cut for instance started a whole new style, 2 years after this video was made, Jersey Shore exploded and now so many people are influenced to be douche bags its ridiculous. Short videos with violence, discrimination, idiocy, nudity and cute animals are intriguing to people. Epic fails, FML, people doing worst than others is funny and people watch and read because they cant help but not watch and read, whether they can relate to it or not. Of course a catchy song helps but it doesn't even necessarily have to be catchy in order to get people to watch as long as they gather the drive to keep watching for the reason that the video is humorous or that they are curious as to what is going to happen next.
